As far as I know there were active Jackson pickups on at least some of the old Japanese Pro models. They were covered same way as EMGs.

The pickups are passive ,it has active electronics in the guitar.

and made in-house by Jackson. You can find more information in the Jackson Electronics Manual

Yep, those covered ones were passive and Jackson-made and often came coupled with active electronics... like a midrange booster or a gain booster.

I'd even dare to say some of the Jackson pickups were as good, if not better than some of the Duncans of the same period! I had a pair of Jackson (higher end...don't remember which ones though) PUs in my San Dimas Explorer, and they were killer!

I like the Jackson humbuckers, especially the J90C, but have not had much luck with Jackson singles (J100, J100XL, J200).

The J200s are nice - I like them over the J100s, but they just don't have "the" sound.

                    AFAIK
                    Jackson never had active pups
just active electronics with passive pups
                    jackson pups are way cool
i like them all from J80 to J90c

There are two that I really like: J50C and the J95

I never particularly cared for their singles J100/J200 or their J80's.

quite hard words for a 12 post junior ...
i think some of the jackson pups are really the best you can find
just try them in their natural environment
its funny that most people swap the jackson pups before even listening to them...
atm i'm considering swapping the X2N back to the j80 on my SD rhoads

I actually agree with junior there, but I have to confess that this opinion is solely based on the pickups that came in low-level imports. All Jackson-branded pups I've tried were extremely muddy in the lower register. There's nothing I hate more, so out they go.
