  • What kind of finish is on the back of a DK1??

The manual says it doesn't need to be oiled even though it doesn't look like there is a finish on it at all. I've had mine since 98 and have never needed to sand it down or oil it. I was wondering what finish (if any) Jackson put on there since I want the same finish on a Warmoth neck I'm having built. Thanks for your help...

Jackson uses gunstock oil now, not sure what thy used back then. I'm pretty sure Warmoth will only warranty their necks if they have a hard finish on them. In other words, using gunstock oil or any other kind of oil may void the warranty.

What is closest to an oil finish? I've heard satin is pretty smoothe and I'm not a fan of poly on necks because they get sticky. What do you guys recommend as a finish that is close in feel to oil?

Go for Warmoth's satin finish. It's a hard finish, but does not get sticky at all.

Definitely go with a matte satin finish. Close enough to oiled feel but better protection.
