  • any update on latest charvel guitars?

I've been checking charvel.com and facebook for updates but not much mentioned yet. Is there confirmation that the next batch will be MIJ? Anyone have any new info?

Yes! They will be made in Japan. There is another thread about this. Sweetwater posted them with a $899.00 MAP with a hard case for a few hrs last week and then pulled them from there site.. I called Sweetwater and they confirmed it.

I heard a rumor that they may still do "wild card" models as USA Production models, and at a price premium. So MIJ production models in the base colors (white, red, black, maybe others), with the occassional USA Production wild cards in special finishes.

Personally, I suspect that rumor is total BS. But I've been known to be wrong before.

History is such a cool thing:

1981-1985: USA Production Charvels made in San Dimas, California
1986-1991: Charvel Production moved to Japan

2006-2010: USA Production Charvels made in Corona, California
2011- ????: Charvel Production moved to Japan

Yeah, but I think Charvel USA will still be doing guitars, as Customs at least. So even with the Pro Mods going to Japan, you could still buy a Charvel USA made here. I don't think you could get a USA Charvel from Jackson after '86 though, right?

Butchering history with inaccuracies is such a poor thing.

That's a fucked up time line. 2002-2004 MIJ
              95-96 made in usa.
and don't for get the MIJ only ones.
              2004-200? pointy reissues.
              promods 2008-2010
New ones are coming out this year so 2010 not 2011.
              81-85 were not production
              what about the prepros?
I think the 86-91 is wrong too.
              aw fuckit.

In 2002-2004 there was also an US production (Black Bullseye, Retro Bullseye, Retro Lightning Bolt)

I'll buy a Ferrari red or black one when they come out, i am sure they will be good guitars for the money. I just can't stomach the $3k for a Custom Shop model, so bang for the buck is important to me. I wonder how much longer we are going to have to wait? I still may pick up a USA Pro Mod or 2 before they disappear. After owning a max of 4 Pro Mods at once, I am down to my EVH Art Series and a Polar White SD-1, I need Fiesta Red one HUM and a So-Cal of some color that I will turn into a H/S/S w/chrome hardware. I thought about getting a Ferrari red So-Cal and turning it into a Brad Gillis tribute.

My local dealer told me that a Charvel rep told him they were to be made in Mexico. So I don't know what to believe...!

I can't really go into details, but I found out it is Japan, more than likely the same people will build the Charvel line and the new Wolfgang Specials(my prediction). They will be SD-1 and SoCals with a special build now and again. i saw a pic of the fist one, it will make some people happy i think! I'm not crazy about the color, but maybe in real life it will be better.

I believe you could always order a custom with the Charvel logo on it, at least from what I remember someone here saying.
