  • Serial Number Database Sharing

Anyone who wants to submit a new serial for "the database" please do so by posting another reply. [I will update this first post with new information.]

I know there are a few of us that maintain a spreadsheet / list / database of Jackson serial numbers. I don't know if any of you have a desire to publicize said serials, but does anyone want to share (privately or publically) their research? I am willing to share my data (which is about 120 serials which gives a pretty good picture for serial dating) with anyone that wants to share their data with me. Most of my data comes from my Jackson collection, Jacksons I have moved (I buy and sell guitars), a few friend's pawn shops and guitars I have worked on...and augmented by serials posted here.

Anyone who wants to speak to me privately about this matter feel free to private message me. Thank you.

A secondary matter, is there any desire in creating a publicly shared serial number database or anything that would make it easy for people to ID years. Even something like: 2004 starts around 9705400 for MIJs, 2005 starts around 9740300, 2006 starts around 9741200, etc. Just some additional FAQs that would assist people (and probably bring people into JCF from google and searches).

Great idea, keep me in the loop. (Yours & Sunbane's database is probably more detailed than mine).

New serial (this is how to submit a serial for entry into "the database").

Give as much or as little detail as you know / want...pics are nice if you want to include them, but not needed:

        Black KVX10 King V serial 01020218

Thank you for the serial, based on some other serial numbers (with necks I've pulled off) I'm pretty confident your DK2 is a late 2005 (2006 starts around 9741200).

                      2006 DK2: 9775324 (bought on Jan 3rd, 2007)
1992 Soloist XL: J200517 (It has a Charvel stamped JT-590. I found that kinda funny. The bridge is in fantastic shape for being so old.)

Do any of you have an approximate date for when the Soloist XL was made? I'm hoping it was made around my birthday because it would be sweet to have a guitar that is the same age as me.

The serial number list is not detailed enough to pull months out for specific years. I doubt we would ever be able to ID the month a neck-thru was built anyway, there is not any month / year data written on it. Compared to a bolt on where month / year data is written in the neck pocket. If you were born in 1992, then I would say that is close enough to say you two are the same age ().

Thank you for the serial numbers

Purchased June of 2009? My serial list of 2007-2010 is really light on data points as of right now, but I think that serial number is closer to 2006/2007. I have few data points to confirm this, but I have DKMG from July 2007 with serial 9793768 (pulled neck data) and another JCF member has a DK2 serial 9790726 which was purchased December 2007 (no neck pull data). Thank you for the serial number

Just because a guitar was purchased at a certain point in time, doesn't mean it's not been hanging around in a shop for a few years.
